Comment on the January 11 prediction: Prices rose as predicted on Monday the 12th, but they reached for $3.19 rather than $2.99. It was a bit of a reach. CORRECT on the prediction of the hike, but WRONG on the price.
Tuesday, January 20, 2026, 7 AM: Did the reach to $3.19 last week signal that Big Red and friends are moving back to a more aggressive pricing mode this winter? We’ll see over the next few weeks.
The numbers I am watching are very similar to what they were on the 12th, with some stations back below $2.69. Interesting to see that the Costco I follow has pushed their price up to $2.69, as I use their price as one of my proxies for the wholesale price to stations. Put it all together, and I suspect another run at $3.19 is in the cards this week. -EA

Weekly price reset, back to $2.999, underway in Ohio.
Hikes: $2.89 last week, $3.19 this week in Illinois wholesale was up about 2c. To be fair last week’s hike provided the lowest margins I’ve seen. So more aggressive here is regression to the norm.
Mid-Michigan appears to be going to $3.09 today.
