Beware of Tumbling Prices

Comment on the November 17 prediction: CORRECT, prices have continued to fall. Gas price war in Sparta? Allendale?

Monday, November 28, 2022, 7PM: This is what you like to see. In Allendale, after a day of work at GVSU, I was doing some errands along Lake Michigan Drive. Allendale prices were $3.45 a gallon, which is the best price I’ve seen in a while, but still too high. After I left one establishment, prices were falling to $3.39. Keep it up, Allendale!

Going east on Lake Michigan Drive, into Grand Rapids, I wish I had the same story to tell. Instead, I saw $3.79, then $3.84, then $3.89. So, that’s a 50-cent difference less than 10 miles apart.

Meanwhile, oil and wholesale gas prices continue to slide, and we have the case for $2.99 in Allendale before too long. Especially as December is usually a month of falling prices, as we head toward Christmas. You know what to do with this information. -EA

  1. Some $2.99s spreading around Joliet, started by Sam’s/Costco. $3.09-3.39 predominant. There are also stations still $1 higher. $3.40 would be a more than fair price now.
