Comment on the November 28 prediction: CORRECT, as prices have continued to fall. We haven’t made it to $2.99 yet, though, except for one station in Sparta.
Sunday, December 4, 2022, 1PM: With two Big Ten teams in the college football playoffs, seems like Big Ten land is due for more gas price relief. We are getting there, slowly but surely, with the best community in west Michigan being Allendale, where a gas price war has broken out. As low as $3.14 this afternoon. Compare that to the $3.79’s still scattered around the area.
Wholesale prices, and the fact that December is usually a month of falling prices, continue to support prices dropping to $2.99, so my prediction is no price hike this week, and keep looking for deals. -EA
South Bend IN – Costco down to $2.99 today. Several at $3.08 & a bunch of $3.09s. SBN avg is $3.298 though. It seems the prices near the bypass & 1 county east are the main cause of the higher avg. A bunch of $3.35+ in Elkhart & Goshen part of the SBN area. Even a $3.69 in Wakarusa & $3.69 at a Nappanee $peedway.
Niles MI WMT $3.23.
Cincy average still at $3.45. Down significantly from last week, but still ridiculous.
Lucky to be having a gas war of sorts in my neighborhood(Joliet IL) with lots of stations $2.93 to $2.99) yet not far away prices 40c a gallon higher are the norm, and per Gasbuddy $3.69-3.89 are found. In a really aggressive gas war, the same wholesale price would (historically) eventually drive pump prices down another 20-30c. I don’t expect that to happen. I think as we come out of this extraordinary year, persistent inflation will continue to drive stations to increase their average profit per gallon.
West Michigan is fun. 3.50s around Cedar Springs, then go east for about 20 minutes and it’s 2.99.
Southwest Ohio is finally down to $3.275.
In the West Side of Hamilton County in Cincinnati, we are hard pressed to find gas for under $3.30. The alternative is, we drive a little ways to Pleasant Run to fill up for under $3.00.
Sam’s/Costco near me in Joliet at $2.789. Lots of others $2.88 up to $2.99. And let a little farther away $3.19-3.59 still prevails. The low prices near me are by far the lowest in Chicagoland.
Allendale – $2.71
By me 20 minutes away – $3.49.
Strange.
Same here.
Mason, Ohio (Home o King’s Island); $2.799 – $2.829.
Along I74 in Dent, Miamitown and Harrison on the West Side of Cincinnati; $3.299 – $3.469.
I don’t get it.
A week ago, Main Street in Hamilton Ohio, saw a 50-cent spread in prices within a few blocks ($3.199-$3.699). That is now own to 16 cents. All are $3.039, except for UDF, at $3.199.
