Silver and Gold Melt Last Week; Oil Does Not

Silver and Gold Melt Last Week; Oil Does Not

Comment on the January 26 prediction: I think it was about five minutes after I posted the prediction that the hike started in Michigan, to $3.09. Honestly, I didn’t know it was coming. The prediction was CORRECT.

Sunday, February 1, 2026: About that hike last Monday — it wasn’t very strong. I have come across gas around $2.69 in a number of areas in west Michigan the last few days, excluding Lake Michigan Drive, of course. Meanwhile, a barrel of oil added a dollar a day last week, and the price held up on Friday even as gold and silver tanked dramatically. With oil up, so are wholesale gas prices, and with last week’s unenthusiastic hike, we’re set up for another reset this coming week. $3.09? $3.19? Maybe $3.29? I will fill up on Monday morning. -EA
