Comment on the October 4 prediction: CORRECT on continued downward pressure on prices. We got a reset in Indiana to $2.99, but not in Michigan, so “good chance of a reset” was kind of WRONG.
Sunday, October 19, 2025, 10 AM: A fire at the important Whiting refinery on Friday caused a spike in wholesale prices. Even though the fire has been extinguished, I expect retail prices will reflect that spike soon. While my wish is that they keep the new price under $3, it could return to $3.19 based on wholesale-to-retail price behavior in 2025. Fill up today! -EA
Expecting at least $3.39 tomorrow in northeast Il. Today I see as low as $2.49 at Speedway.
Seeing $3.199s pop up in SW Ohio this morning. So far it is at the Shell Stations, I guess it is on account of the Whiting refinery issues. My last fill-up on Friday, at Sam’s was $2.599.
South Bend IN – Speedway & Family Express +.30 to $3.29. Costco up to $2.59. Most stations in SBN had just got down to $2.99 or a bit lower last week.
Niles MI – WMT $2.66
Gas prices skyrocketed here in the Grand Rapids area from the $2.40’s on Monday to $3.29 on Tuesday 10/21/2024. Has anyone else ever seen a one-day spike exceeding 80 cents?
