Comment on the September 28 prediction: CORRECT on the reset, which happened on Monday. WRONG on the price, which was again noticeably higher than I expected, to $3.29 rather than $2.99.
Sunday, October 4, 2025, 5 PM: So, what happened on Friday? I thought the hike to $3.29 a week ago was excessive, and on Friday, the retailers seemed to agree. What I experienced was driving to Allendale in the morning and seeing $3.27 along Lake Michigan Drive. By Friday afternoon, there was a $2.99 and some $3.09’s. (As for further weirdness, that $2.99 station was $3.19 on Saturday.) Today, along I-96, $2.77’s everywhere. What a specific price! It’s almost like the mythical email list that goes out to raise prices was used with a “$2.77 alert”.
In other news, although the plan was for Kum and Go to rebrand as Maverik, here in Michigan, K&G has been sold to Casey’s, and they changed the signage this week. I remember how K&G was helping keep prices lower when they first arrived in Michigan. Is Casey’s the source of the $2.77’s?
Here’s what I expect for this week: continued downward pressure on prices, to $2.69 or lower in certain towns. Then, a good chance of a reset late in the week. My advice: Keep. It. Under. $3. Big. Red. -EA
In IL it’s a different story I guess. 16 days after the last price hike (to $3.59) quite a a few stations have not rolled back any of that hike. Others have dropped 70c. My calculated target for a new hike has dropped to $3.189. It should be quite a while before the next one here (typical of October-November)
As reported by Patrick De Haan this morning: GasPrices appear to be rising to $2.99/gal in Michigan and Indiana today. This is a routine price cycle that is higher than wholesale prices currently warrant.
South Bend IN- 3 stations by ND just got down to $2.99 recently along with many others. Costco was in the $2.70s, but keeps going lower. Costco now $2.49. A couple at $2.75. Some in $2.80s, but most just got down to $2.99.

Looks like yesterday afternoon was the Greedway hike to $2.999 in Ohio.
