$2.69? Nice. $2.99? Next.

$2.69? Nice. $2.99? Next.

Comment on the September 7 posting: My caution was warranted, as prices rose to $3.29 in Indiana but stayed lower in Michigan. This is a regional example of the fact that the national average price of gas has been hovering around $3.16 for a month.

Sunday, September 14, 2025, 5 PM: The time of more expensive summer gas formulation is over for this year, so the retailers are clearing their books, contributing to prices noticeably below $3 in Michigan. But, wholesale prices have stabilized around $2, and Costco near Grand Rapids has been stable at $2.69 for several days. It looks like many stations are selling gas near or below cost this afternoon, and I am expecting a price hike this week. They’ll keep it under $3, though, at least in Michigan. -EA
