Summer Refinery Troubles Return

Comment on the May 17 prediction: CORRECT on the first part of the week. “Coin flip” landed tails, as we did get a pre-holiday “powerful” hike, exactly to $3.39.

Monday, May 26, 2025, 10 AM: Although you can find gas under $3 in Holland and Cedar Springs, for the most part, prices are holding in the $3.30’s in Michigan. Based on the cost of oil, gas prices should be lower, but it is summer so that means that something has gone wrong at one of the refineries. In this case, Joliet. I expect retail gas prices to drop slowly this week. -EA

  1. South Bend IN – I can’t get the GasBuddy app to show any prices, but the website shows Fam. Express has gone from $3.15 to $3.39 today. No others listed as spiking at this time. Plenty of $2.99-$3.15. Costco $2.85.

    Niles MI – WMT $2.97

LaPorte, 1 county west Fam Express is listed at $3.49

  2. Saw most the local SW Ohio stations fall to under $2.80 and figured a reset was in the works. This morning is jumped to $3.199 at the BP turned Shell (last week).

  3. South Bend IN – Fam. Express went from $3.15 to $3.39 2 days ago at all 3 stations. Now today the south side is $2.93, just east of ND $3.09 & 2mi east of that still gouging $3.39. Maybe only a few other stations spiked, but for the most part the area stayed the same or went lower. Most $2.93-$3.09 now. Costco $2.79

Niles MI – WMT $2.97 still

  4. Still $2.69 at Daleville Indiana. New Wawa and Quik Trip are good for my budget.7 station to choose from. All still at war. LoL
Miles away in Anderson I noticed no price spike today. Many still under 3 bucks.
