Please keep it under $4 a gallon

Comment on the July 30 prediction: CORRECT, as prices rose to $3.79 in Michigan, as predicted.

Wednesday, August 9, 2023, 9:00 PM: Just updated my spreadsheets, and everything is conspiring against those seeking lower prices, like we are. Oil continues to rally, and it is the highest since November. Something has been going on at the big refinery in Whiting, putting pressure on Midwest supplies. New York RBOB is up this week. So, I am filling up Thursday morning, as it looks like we will see higher prices soon. Let’s hope they keep it under $4 a gallon, at least in Michigan. -EA

  1. “Something has been going on at the big refinery in Whiting”

Probably some squirrels again. They always seem to wreak havoc every few months up there. You’d think they’d have it figured out by now.

  2. Gasbuddyguy stated on Twitter that BP announced the “turnaround” of Whiting has been moved up from September to August (date unspecified). This will impact output, and as usual the expected squeeze is worst on the Chicago-Milwaukee blend which was at 43 over non-Chicago spot 2 days ago. We got a $4.49($4.59) hike in northeast IL yesterday

  3. $3.999 Indianapolis area hike underway.

  4. South Bend IN – Family Expre$$ $3.999 hike underway. SBN avg $3.668. Costco $3.46.
Niles MI – Speedway, Marathon, Admiral to $3.99 also.
