Sunday, September 20, 2020, 7PM: That price war in Sparta 12 days ago didn’t last, but we still haven’t seen a system-wide reset. This will probably be the week, as wholesale prices have jumped at least 13 cents, while retail prices continued to decline. The contra argument, though, is that we are at the end of summer gas season, and the retailers want to clear out that inventory. Also, whether Big Red’s heart is still in the game, given the pending sale to 7/11, is a wild card. Nevertheless, I expect higher prices in the next few days, maybe $2.09, maybe higher, given the move in wholesale prices. -EA
Prices did reset in Grand Rapids last Tuesday night to $1.99 but wyoming MI stations went back down the next day
Spikes don’t stick like they used to. Ohio went to $1.999 mid-week. Already down to low $1.70s in spots.
South Bend IN – Speedway by ND went from 1.91 to 1.99 Wednesday & was down to 1.87 by Friday. Today Speedway was 1.87 this morning & is 2.15 now. SBN avg was 1.957 yesterday, Costco $1.82.
Niles MI a few miles north is 1.89-1.99 currently with the lone Speedway at 1.90
Speedway hike this afternoon to $2.35 in Chicagoland despite a 6c drop in the spot market today. About the third time this year they have done that, but the hike price IS more in line with the expected lower wholesale setting this evening.
$2.159 in the Toledo area—$0.20 jump at the pump.
Nothing will change! GREEDWay lives!
Some stations in mid-Michigan jumped to $2.19 sometime today. I’m assuming it happened either late this afternoon or this evening. There are still several places that haven’t spiked, but it appears to be underway.
Yep…$2.15 in Indiana.
Heading up to $2.199 in SW Ohio by UDF and BP. There doesn’t seem to be much momentum so far.
Paid $1.729 in West Chester Ohio this morning, at UDF.
With oil down, either spot has skyrocketed or squirrels are on the loose at BP Whiting. Just 2 days after dropping to $1.89, it’s shot up to $2.15 outside of Muncie….hmmmmmmm
