Will they take a shot at $3.49 for the first time this year?

Comment on the July 20 prediction: Prices rose to $3.39 (again) the next day in Michigan, as predicted. CORRECT!

Wednesday, July 30, 2025, 8 PM: I see oil popped a bit since last week, up to $70 a barrel. Wholesale gas prices are ticking higher, too, and many stations in west Michigan have prices in the $3.20’s right now, or lower. Will they reset again on Thursday or Friday to $3.39? My instincts say yes to a hike, following a hike yesterday in Indiana. Will they take a shot at $3.49 for the first time this year? Maybe. -EA

  1. Ed- what does your crystal ball think if the additional tariffs indirectly implemented against those countries who buy Russian Oil make them stop buying and have to look at other sources on the open market?

I heard a CNN Russian correspondent state that China and India are responsible for purchasing 80 % of the open market Russian oil. This individual said China will continue to buy Russian oil and would purchase India’s 40% share.

I would believe this restricting of Russian buyers would tighten global supply and up prices at the pump! But let’s see if it actually gets to that point. The CNN analyst did say that the President doesn’t like high gas prices at the pump and would avoid that if possible.

    Thoughts?

“India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits

  2. Juice, it is hard to predict. Look at the past week, with oil down 10%. Do tariffs have anything to do with that, an economic slowdown, or something else? What I have learned about oil is that it is hard to create shortages.
