Comment on the February 25 prediction: I ended that post with “I’m not expecting a fresh price hike this coming week”. I am taking that back now.
Wednesday, February 28, 2024, 8:00AM: I’m not sure why, but wholesale prices have risen almost a quarter a gallon in the past several days, and with price hikes already this week in Chicago and Indiana, it’s clear to me we are next, probably later this morning. $3.49 is not out of the question. Fill up now if you see this post. -EA
I think it’s the start of the switch to summer blend, @GasBuddyGuy posted this on Feb 26:
“SEASONAL CHANGE: The Chicago spot market, basis for the Great Lakes, has begun the shift to summer gasoline, with the spec change going from 15psi RVP to 13.5psi.”
Whiting is still down and it is putting a serious squeeze on supply. Also, they found a human skull while excavating yesterday so that may delay restart further.
Lots of $3.49 in central Indiana. Most are monkey see monkey doing as usual.
I’d like to know how much regional supply has actually been squeezed. I’m sure other regions are selling their products in our market. For a pretty profit, of course.
$3.499 starting in the Toledo area ON A SATURDAY!! WTF??!!
@ChrisDG74 Let’s just say that the lousy winter weather is helping keep up with demand, but it’s getting harder.
$3.69 starting to show up at Marathon admirals in West Michigan
