If only we all lived in South Haven

Sunday, September 19, 2023, 3:00 PM: As noted a few days ago, we are in the transition from “summer gas” to “winter gas”, and that is creating a fog when it comes to predicting gas prices. Oil continues to tick higher (close of $87.51 a barrel on Friday), but you can get gas for $3.07 in South Haven, and $3.29 in Kalamazoo, today.

So, what comes next? The big retailers might decide to clean up their balance sheet by resetting to $3.59 – $3.69 this week, but it isn’t obvious that they will do so. I end up with the same advice — until the reset comes, keep looking for cheap gas. -EA

  1. Good time for a Michigan road trip. The fun begins at Warren Dunes all the way to Sleeping Bear. South Haven is a one tank trip for us.

  2. Reset to $3.699 in Ohio yesterday.

  3. Indy area hike underway to $3.899.

  4. No Speedway reset this week in IL. But the several competitors that were at $3.81 yesterday are matching Speedway’s existing $4.09 on one stretch. MOST Speedways in Chicagoland are $3.79-4.05

  5. Indy area hike again to $3.899, last week’s hike fizzled out and hoping this one will too.

  6. South Bend IN went up about .40 a few days ago to $3.89. Some down to 3.79 now. Costco 3.39
