Classic Gas Game is Back — $2.59 is Next

Comment on the January 25 prediction: We did go up, to $2.45, so primarily CORRECT. I was not poised to make a similar hike prediction a week ago, though.

Sunday, February 14, 2021, 5PM: In the past few months, it seems like the old school Gas Game has kicked back in. We’ve seen oil prices slowly rising, leading to wholesale gas prices ticking up, and then hikes tacking on a nickel or dime to the last hike. To be more specific, oil prices broke out of their summer range at Thanksgiving, going from $42 a barrel then to almost $60 on Friday. Gas touched below $2 in early December, and seven hikes later, we are in the $2.50’s here in western Michigan. Theories abound as to what has been going since Thanksgiving, but what I have learned over the years is to just look at the numbers and keep playing the game. Another hike is coming in the next few days. $2.59? -EA

  6. It would appear from my app that Speedway is shooting for $2.65 in Indiana?

  7. South Bend IN – Phillips seemed to hit $2.65 last night. Speedway spiked today from $2.45 to $2.65. SBN avg now $2.53. Costco $2.30.

    Niles MI also to $2.65

  8. $2.699 in Southwest, Ohio yesterday.

We have another cold snap on Friday and Saturday so I’m sure that is good enough for another spike before the weekend.
