We’re moving into unpredictable territory

I did a lot of driving around town today — this was bizarre. This morning, I saw the Citgo on 28th and I-96 at $3.19, but no other stations nearby were over $3. This afternoon, the Citgo in Standale was $3.19, as was the BP near Covell, but the Speedway on Lake Michigan Drive between those stations was $2.99. I just checked tonight and I see Fort Wayne, Indiana Speedways are $3.19, here in the GR area, there are some $3.25’s, but the Speedways are all under $3.

This, all following the $2.99 reset yesterday. Meanwhile, the RB prices suggest a 20-cent margin price of $2.98.

Price behavior like this is not predictable. Either there are some faulty e-mails going out to stations, these refinery problems are knocking wholesale prices around, or something else weird is going on.
