Probably time to go over $4 again

Probably time to go over $4 again

Comment on the April 13 posting: No hike last week, and gas prices dripped lower. I saw $3.59 near Lansing.

Tuesday, April 21, 2026, 3 PM: Yes, it is difficult to make gas price predictions lately, with wholesale prices bouncing up-and-down by 10 or 20 cents per day. Is the Strait open? Closed? Clopen?

At the moment, though, we are looking at a 0-margin price in the range of $3.69 – $3.79, and a lot of retailers are getting close to that price, although a lot are at $3.99. I am going to go out on a limb and predict a reset before Saturday. Back to $4.19? -EA

  1. It has been 3 weeks since our last hike in IL. In the last week spot rose 63c though “only 43c” since just before the last hike! We should see $4.75 or high Monday, hikes of 50-80c at most stations!!

  2. Yesterday the stations I passed by was at a $4.199 reset. This morning they are $4.29. I guess we weren’t getting soaked bad enough yesterday.

  3. South Bend IN – Speedway x2 by ND went from $3.45 to $4.19 yesterday. Same for Family Express. Still a number of $3.99 around. Costco $3.45. IN is suppsoed to have the gas tax suspended for about 1 more week.

    Niles MI – I see 4.19-$4.29.

  4. Mid-Michigan jumped to $4.29 yesterday afternoon, but my local Kroger drug its feet on raising prices until around 6pm or later. Thank you, Kroger.
