Comment on the April 21 posting: CORRECT, as prices rose “before Saturday” to $3.99. I was surprised it wasn’t higher, and my surprise was well-founded, as a second hike started Sunday night, to $4.29 in Michigan.
Tuesday, April 28, 2026, 5 PM: The last several days, the issues with the Strait and the flow of oil started to really affect wholesale and retail prices. Despite yesterday’s jump to $4.29, wholesale prices continue to power higher. This will sound crazy, but current wholesale prices suggest another hike is coming, in the $4.49 – $4.69 range. I will make that a prediction, and I will be topping my tank tomorrow morning, at $4.29 a gallon. -EA

Oil is on fire today.
Spiking to $4.80 today in Indiana

Just spotted $4.799 in Beech Grove. Ouch!
Double hike in Indiana among other Great Lakes states to $5 (4.999) this afternoon.
$4.99 in Detroit area. Just filled up at Sheetz for $3.93 before they spiked.
$4.999 in Toledo!
The highest it’s ever been!
It is crazy in South West Ohio. The Shell stations are spiking ranging from $4.799 to $4.999. Not sure how this will eventually shake out but I think $4.999 will be the price target, I fear.
From 3.79 to 4.29 Monday. 4.29 to 4.79, and then 4.99 yesterday. Smh.
