Comment on the April 12 prediction: Depends who you ask. Prices rose to $2.85 in Michigan and across the Midwest, except where they didn’t. So, 1/2 CORRECT, 1/2 WRONG?
Sunday, April 18, 2021, 4PM: Is Speedway trolling us? Here in west Michigan, we had a slow motion hike to $2.85 on Wednesday and Thursday, but Speedway and a few others refused to participate, or did something half-hearted. For example, on Thursday, on 44th street in Grand Rapids, I saw $2.85’s popping up, and next door to one of the new prices was a Speedway sitting at $2.49. This is weird, since Big Red is usual on point for these hikes. I wonder if this has anything to do with the pending, and now delayed, sale of Speedway to 7-11. Gas buying advice: look for prices in the $2.60’s or below, and speculate whether Speedway will reset on Monday. -EA
Speedway had no problem hiking to $2.85 (along with the rest of the stations) here in the Indianapolis area…
sw corner of Ohio never even budged. Lots of prices in the $2.40s right now.
Went up today in Chicagoland to $3.15/3,25, Thanks for the updated story on the Speedway sale. I just wonder if the Biden FTC might yet torpedo this (hearing that unions have issues with it). I want my share (I own some MPC!)
2.99 in NW Indiana lead by Family Express
$2.899 spike in Indianapolis led by Speedway
$2.89 in NE Indiana, Speedway and hometown Lassus leading the way. Kind of a widely varying spike though, as the stations around Murphy stations are jumping almost .25, but stations not in proximity are only having to jump .10 to .12, as Murphy was about 11 cents under the rest of the market.
Looks like a move to $3.25 by Circle K/Shell stations in suburban Chicagoland. Will see what Speedway’s response might be.
Speedway posting $3.19-$3.29 this afternoon in Chicagoland
