The name of the site is based off an essay Ed wrote for the Grand Rapids Press titled "The Gas Game". The current website was established later by Patrick DeHaan after he and Ed predicted gas price hikes on GasBuddy's website GrandRapidsGasPrices.com, as well as Ed’s personal web page.

Down 5% as of 1:30PM Thursday so the crude roller coaster continues.
Filled up today at UDF in Reading, North of Cincinnati for $2.379 -3 cents with the U-Drive card.
Really weird…..a small increase to 2.69 at one of the Family Express’s in Michigan City. Looks like some in other areas of NW also jumped to 2.69. Some stations are still at 2.61 in Michigan City.
Checked the GREEDway app, and saw a few of them “correcting” to $2.399 on the low end. GasBuddy reports a $2.539 average in the Toledo area.
Yesterday FE is trying to increase to 2.89 in NW Indiana. Will be curious to see if other stations follow.
South Bend IN – Family Express spiked to 2.89 here also yesterday and a just a few other stations. Filled up at Costco for 2.40. SBN avg 2.57. Speedway by ND & by the state line down another penny to 2.51.
Expecting a hike in Chicagoland Monday after our boutique spot soared nearly 13c Friday. Speedway near me at $2.59 now but their price hike target should be $3.19 or higher at most of their stations.
No recent news on the Speedway sale to 7-11. Seems unlikely to close 1st quarter as earlier indicated, since that has only 3 days left.
Sunday hike to $2.899 in Ohio.
Indy area spiking to $2.799 / $2.899.
Hike came in at $3.09($3.19 Cook County for Chicagoland
