Gas Prices Will Not Rest

Comment on the May 19 prediction: Absolutely CORRECT, as prices rose to $1.99 on the Wednesday before Memorial Day weekend.

Sunday, May 31, 2020, 5PM: Here is west Michigan, it is a day of clean-up after last night’s riot in Grand Rapids. It is beyond my ability to speculate as to whether the unrest nationwide this weekend will have any short-term effects on the stock market, the economy, or gas prices. What we have seen this month is stocks and oil rise in tandem, and on Friday, trading in oil closed at $35.49 a barrel. Wholesale gas prices have picked up at least 25 cents a gallon in May, too, and it appears that more is to come. With Big Red testing a price hike in Ohio this past Thursday to $2.09, it seems like Michigan is next. Head to Sparta tonight or tomorrow morning, where you can buy a gallon for $1.59, as I predict a hike this week to $2.09. -EA

  1. South Bend IN – Speedway Spike to $2.09 underway along with Family Express & some Phillips.
SBN avg was $1.94. Costco $1.78. I didn’t notice any Speedway move from the $1.99 from the last hike.

Just to the north in Niles MI a Phillips has also gone to $2.09.

  2. $2.099 in Ohio failed miserably. Average price barely moved. Currently getting in for $1.739.

  3. Looks like The Circle K-Shell chain is moving to $2.45 in Chicago suburbs . Speedway, not yet.
