Friday, May 29, 2:30PM: Oil prices are jumping today, so wholesale gas prices are following. We were getting close to price hike territory already, so I suggest you fill up this afternoon, as a not-as-unusual-as-it-used-to-be Saturday hike is probably in the cards. Seriously, though, thanks for the warning. We’re driving to Chicago Sunday, so it will be nice to drive there on cheap(er) gas.

So, apparently it’s NOT the usual slow falling off of prices like previous years. Onward and upward we go.
The common wisdom could well be that $20 crude is $1 gas, then $40 crude is $2 gas, hence $60 crude is $3 gas.
Of course $80 oil did not result in $4 gas and $100 oil in $5 gas. Or $120 crude in $6 gas…
So…. What am I missing here?
In Naperville Illinois went from 2.89 on 5/28 to 3.25 on 5/29. Gouging!!

National gouge the consumer day. It figures. One of the rare times I am traveling out of town on business we get rung up for a $2.85 spike. I guess I better pack a jar of vasoline while I’m at it.

The great thing was I headed straight for the Marathon station upon returning from Columbus and it was still $2.39. It has since went up to $2.79 boooooooooo

There are still a few stations in Lansing holding at $2.59.
In Toledo yesterday, Greedway definitely led to the $2.859 spike., starting at ~10am, as usual. Fortunately, I was able to get to a Kroger showing $2.499 and get $0.10/gal. off.
Yet we still have the highest crude oil supply since 1930, AP story anyway.
A few Lansing stations never raised their price, and there is now a Speedway showing 2.59 on GasBuddy.
