Comment on the October 11 prediction: It was CORRECT.
Friday, November 11, 2011, 1:25PM: After some ups-and-downs in the wholesale and retail market this afternoon, let’s see where we are at. Chicago-based wholesale prices have been dropping all week, according to Bloomberg, the place where price hikes occur is about $3.35, and retail prices in the Grand Rapids area are mostly near $3.50, except in Hudsonville, where it seems a gas-price war has broken out. So, I’m expecting prices to drop to near $3.40 around town as the weekend goes on and into Monday. Good!

New York gasoline futures for December delivery are down 17.11¢ since last Tuesday’s close, from $2.7064 to $2.5353. However, they are up 4.4¢ this morning.
Its all about the same price. Anyone who falls for this is stupid. 13 cents does not make a difference. You can make more if you just work. We are slaves to transportation. Oh well.

Someone different has written an article about gas prices for the Kalamazoo Gazette, their business editor:
“Ho, Ho, how much? Gasoline prices are on the rise as we head into the holiday season”
http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2011/11/ho_ho_how_much_gasoline_prices.html
This article reminds me that our next price reset (increase) could occur next week on Monday or Tuesday, ahead of Thanksgiving, so I suggest that Monday morning might be the best time to fill up for Thanksgiving travel.
As far as that Gazette headline, it just isn’t true, as it is written in present tense and gas prices presently are not rising. Since my previous post made only yesterday, the Michigan average has dropped 2.2¢ to $3.376. The USA average has dropped 0.6¢ to $3.409. The averages in Michigan’s metro areas have all dropped, from 2.4¢ in Lansing to 3.7¢ in Flint.
