Wholesale prices right now are about where they were on Monday when they hit new records, which means that the retailers might consider a price hike to $2.59 tomorrow. Before this summer, I would have said not to worry until next week because prices are still above $2.50 in most places and we already had a price hike this week. Well, let’s worry, but I’ll predict no price hike at least through Monday, with more stations ending up matching the $2.38 in Allendale right now as the weekend goes on. But fill up Sunday night! The prediction of no price hike was WRONG, but I was correct to worry. Prices rose on Thursday to $2.59, although it didn’t stick in some places, but it appears there is more to come.
