Comment on the June 9 prediction: Prices fell all week, and if you knew where to go, you could get a gallon of gas for $3.99 or less. CORRECT.
Sunday, June 14, 2026, 8 PM: In this second Trump term, there is more risk than usual trying to predict the week ahead when it comes to gas prices, because something is often happening on Sunday night or Monday morning. As of this writing, we are seeing headlines that the U.S. and Iran have announced a deal to end the war, with a signing ceremony this coming Friday. Honestly, I don’t know what to believe, but oil futures are heading to $80 a barrel this evening, as compared to $100 or so a month ago. That will put pressure on gasoline prices.
Based on Friday’s close, however, we remain in the $3.89 – $4.39 range, and being at the lower end of the range, a price reset to $4.39 would be in order. That’s NOT a prediction, because I expect that range to look more like $3.69 – $4.19 after tomorrow. So, if you don’t need to fill up, just wait a few days. -EA
