Comment on the May 10 prediction: Prices rose on Tuesday, the 12th, back to $4.99. The prediction was basically CORRECT.
Sunday, May 17, 2026, 7 AM: Although oil prices continue to live in elevated territory thanks to the war with Iran, recent refinery issues in the Midwest appear to have settled down, leading to a downtick in wholesale gas prices. Combine that with last week’s hike, and we have room right now for retail prices to drift lower. We are already seeing it this weekend, a bit north of Grand Rapids, with prices in the upper $4.70’s. So, I am not expecting a hike in the next several days, unless something new goes wrong with Iran or regional refineries. -EA
