Comment on the March 7 prediction: It was CORRECT, as prices rose to $3.65 on March 10. Prices then re-set to $3.65 again on March 18.
Tuesday, March 22, 9:30PM: Sigh. NYMEX and AXXIS indicate the wholesale price is now $3 a gallon — the highest this year. This corresponds to a price hike to around $3.75. Expect it Wednesday or Thursday. — Ed Aboufadel
While Chicago no longer has a big discount, it looks like Michigan has one, a whopping 6.26¢ under Chicago at the moment. I expect this spike to reach $3.69, possibly even $3.65.
It appears Speedway is returning to $3.659 this morning.
(I mean in West Michigan above.)
Also like last week, communities along the southern Michigan border went up a notch lower to $3.599.
Just a point on how thin the margins on retail gasoline are, which results in continuous price changes, kerosene has been stable at $4.099 since the beginning of the year. Of course, the fact they sell so very little kerosene probably has a lot to do with it as well.
I just wanted to comment, I’m over in Eastern, WA and we have seen in the last 3 weeks gas go from $3.21 for regular to $3.70. An outrageous climb and I am now sorry to say that super is currently $3.91. Looks like another summer of light driving for the Bradfield family.
