Wednesday, February 25, 7:50PM: I just updated my spreadsheets, and I agree with Patrick that we’ll get a price hike tomorrow, because NYMEX shot up today, and tomorrow is Thursday. I don’t think we’ll go over $2, though.

watch NYMEX (Free) and opis for Chicago prices (expensive subscription) for market conditions – add roughly 58 cents for tax to posted prices to get approx. break even, then add 10 to 25 cents for margin – Read, read, read news information tied to crude/gas/diesel. it may take a bit of practice, but not that hard. If you see retail selling below cost, then you can bet there will be a price hike coming.
