Speedway raises prices day after huge drop in wholesale prices

Let me just say how surprised I am that Speedway raised prices today. I think everyone should be able to see how out-of-line this price hike was as it stunned many. Wholesale gasoline prices closed down a good amount yesterday, so why did Speedway raise prices? Good question. And while we’re on the topic, Speedway [...]

Are we going back to $2.09 or higher on Friday?

Comment on the March 21 prediction:  Prices rose to $2.09 on the 24th, so the prediction was CORRECT.  We’ve seen slow drops since then. Thursday, April 2, 2009, 2:45 PM:  NYMEX is up 9 cents today, making me nervous about a price hike on Friday, back to $2.09 or maybe even higher.  Yes, let’s make [...]

Futher hikes may be coming…

As Speedway raised prices to $1.999 this morning, oil was busy having a rally of it’s own. The active April contract hit just shy of $50/bbl today, and tomorrow’s Department of Energy report may result in an extended oil rally (meaning higher gasoline prices). The DOE report tomorrow is setting the stage for $50 oil. [...]

Okay, retailer… wholesale prices have risen…

…but please lower your prices until you need to buy that more expensive gasoline! Folks- that Chicago discount is drying up fast as the Winter blended fuel (RVP 11.5) is sold at an alarming rate. Summer gasoline that pollutes less but costs more to produce is starting to be produced (RVP 9.0) and will slowly [...]

30-cent Chicago Discount means you’re paying TOO MUCH!

A very unlikely situation (a good situation) has developed here in parts of the Midwest. I’ve noticed a trend that has resulted in much lower wholesale prices for the Chicago PAD District. Gasoline coming out of Chicago (which is most gasoline supplied to West Michigan), is currently DISCOUNTED nearly 30-cents from what it’s being traded [...]

The trade of the year was UGA from $17 to $23 (up 35% in 10 weeks)

Comment on the February 25 prediction:  It was easy to parrot the other predictions last week, but the prediction was CORRECT and that hike did not go over $2.  The next day, though, we went to $1.99, and then yesterday it was $2.05.  As Speedway posted prices over $2 before under $1, my December 11, [...]
