Speedway Effect

DISCLAIMER: When gasoline prices fall over an extended period of time (Mid September thru November 2008), and there aren’t RECENT PRICE HIKES, the Speedway Effect becomes irrelevant since it is based on prices on the wholesale market rising and falling. Without these price fluctuations, there is no dominance in any market. Studies have proven this. [...]

Back to “winter” gasoline!

Today marks the change back from summer gasoline to the winter blend that is much easier and less expensive to produce. Will this play a major factor in deciding whether prices go up tomorrow? It definitely could. I am looking for a hike to $2.99, but it may or may not happen, and it may [...]

Hike coming? Not totally sure, but looking likely

With prices nose-diving around Grand Rapids this weekend, I’m thinking we’re going to see a hike sooner rather than later. The only question that remains is to what price? Quite tricky. The 0-cent margin is about $2.76 right now, with a few retailers making it down to as low as $2.79. I think that those [...]

Gasoline futures down hard today, almost 9 cents a gallon, corresponding to a new 0-cent margin price of $2.48 and a 20-cent margin price of $2.69. That would lead me to a prediction of lower prices continuing through the [...]
