Speedway hikes to $3.19, more coming?

Speedway has just set the price of $3.19 at their stations this morning (fill up!), but the larger question- is this the start of the ugly mess called the “Spring Run-up”? I’m pretty sure this is it… just like the Nazi submarine in the movie U-571… we’re going up and can’t slow our ascent! We’re [...]

DOE Report- the good and the bad…

It’s Wednesday! I’m sure many of you know that means the Department of Energy releases its weekly petroleum report! Lets take a peek at what this weeks report contained: Well first, BP’s Toledo refinery came back online. This was echoed in the Midwest PADD numbers. The Midwest’s inventory of gasoline is at its largest number [...]

BP’s Toledo Refinery FINALLY restarting!

Only a month late to finish a complete restart (original deadline was 11/15), BP will finish its planned maintenance at its Toledo, Ohio refinery. With Midwest and Nationwide gasoline stockpiles suffering, the time couldn’t be better. The capacity at the refinery is 160,000bpd. According to Reuters, the refinery should be completely operational by the end [...]

I hereby state that the 2007 hurricane season is done

Hike coming? Not totally sure, but looking likely

With prices nose-diving around Grand Rapids this weekend, I’m thinking we’re going to see a hike sooner rather than later. The only question that remains is to what price? Quite tricky. The 0-cent margin is about $2.76 right now, with a few retailers making it down to as low as $2.79. I think that those [...]

Prices coming down, but for how long?

After noticing a few regional station making nice drops, I decided to load up last week’s Midwest PADD numbers. Finally! A jump from 45.2 million barrels to 46.3 million barrels. That should help West Michigan and the Midwest region to start dropping into the $2′s again… but for how long? Maybe just a couple weeks… [...]
