Planning on filling up Monday morning

Comment on the April 21 prediction:  Prices rose exactly as predicted.  CORRECT.

Sunday, May 4, 2014, 9:30PM:  The ethanol pricing problem is history (for now), and prices have been dropping the past week, except for some screwy jumps in Ohio.  We are getting to the point where retail prices are about the same as what the retailers are paying, which means a price hike is on the horizon, perhaps as soon as Monday.  Back to $3.79? –EA

  1. All 4 UDF’s along my commute have dropped to $3.499. One Greedway finally jumped. With the 3 stations closest to them being $3.499-$3.539, we’ll see if they stay or come back down.

  2. I saw a report today where an analyst said prices will continue to fall through the Memorial Day weekend. I’m guessing he doesn’t analyze the Greedway states very often as I’m sure we’ll get another crank up in prices either Thursday or Friday.

  3. “Gotta wonder if he receives any credible threats because of the pricing practices.”

This cannot be a serious comment. Please say it was a joke.

  4. The spot/retail spread in Cincy is back down to 80 cents, which has been the triggering point for the last 7 spikes(before this last one, which was 90). Speedway will try again this coming week. I bet this one will actually work, when you add in the fact that it’s the week before a holiday weekend.

  5. Except that the holiday/spike myth never really plays out as universally believed.

  6. I don’t disagree with you, Ren. I was implying that since we have dropped back to 80 cents AND the holiday weekend is upcoming, those two factors, combined, would trigger a spike.
I realize the holiday weekend thing isn’t really a thing. With 25-30 spikes each year, you have a 50/50 chance of seeing a spike during a holiday week, just because it DIDN’T happen the week before.

  7. A station on the West Side of Cincinnati, the closest one to home, just went to $3.59. I noticed when the price drops seem to increase that a spike is imminent. That is another factor to throw into the mix.

Spent a frustrating evening Saturday night. Came home at 10:10PM and went on Gas buddy. Could not connect to the website. Tried several times with no luck. Woke up and tried again at 1:30AM and finally put some points up but it was too late. My 1382 day streak has ended. I think I’ll take a vacation from there for a little while.

  8. The UDFs on my commute have been at $3.499 since Friday. Another reason I think a spike(or at least spike attempt) is imminent. We’ve stopped with the drops.

  9. Bearcat500, 1382 days was one heck of a long run! Sorry you couldn’t connect to the website! Now you can take a break, then attempt to break your old record. 😉
